O jogador profissional de poker norte americano Mark Schmid com 31 anos de idade venceu o 34º Evento do WSOP 2011 no 22º dia( $1.000 No Limit Hold'em) conquistando assim a 1ª bracelete na sua carreira, a cometição não foi nada fácil com um total de 3,144 jogadores inscritos no evento e teve uma duração de 3 dias de torneio tendo ficado em 2º lugar o austríaco Justin Cohen.
Schmid já havia ficado em posição de dinheiro em 3 torneios mas nunca havia sequer chegado a uma mesa final, Schmid é também muito conhecido por ser treinador do site de poker Sharkscopers.
Em entrevista Schmid disse: "It's huge for me. This is one of my life goals. I remember on my blog last year I posted my goal was to win a bracelet," disse Schmid "I cashed three times out of eight tournaments but I didn't even make a final table. To come through with the win was huge.", "There's so much variance in tournaments that you can't really expect to win a bracelet," disse Schmid. "There's good players that could go a decade without winning a bracelet just because it's so high in variance."
